The Challenge
Spring Green needed a modern web presence supported by a powerful administrative backend. Their marketing partner, BDO, was tasked with building the front-end website, but they needed an equally robust system to manage the content, workflows, and integrations that would feed into it.
The goals were clear:
Build a scalable administrative platform that could power the new website.
Provide editors with advanced tools beyond what standard CMS systems offer.
Ensure that content management was secure, auditable, and flexible, with full API-driven integration to the front-end.
The Approach
Albright Labs partnered closely with BDO, taking full ownership of the backend development and system architecture. While BDO focused on the front-end, we built the administrative system from the ground up, ensuring seamless communication between the two through a custom API.
Our focus was not just on content publishing, but on creating an enterprise-level CMS experience. We extended October CMS with features that gave administrators a high degree of control, including:
Custom navigation personalized for Spring Green’s editorial workflows.
Revision tracking and version restoration, ensuring full audit trails and rollback capability.
Redirect management for SEO continuity and user experience.
Scheduled publishing to align with marketing calendars.
PPC page management, enabling rapid landing page deployment for campaigns.
Execution & Delivery
The system was designed and built in agile sprints, with continuous collaboration between Albright Labs and BDO. By decoupling the administrative system from the front-end, the project achieved flexibility, scalability, and long-term sustainability.
The custom API ensured that all content and configurations were delivered cleanly to the front-end, while administrators enjoyed a purpose-built backend that streamlined complex workflows.
Results & Impact
Spring Green gained an entirely new operational backbone for managing its digital presence. The benefits included:
Full editorial control without relying on developers for updates.
A modern, API-driven architecture that integrated smoothly with the front-end built by BDO.
Improved efficiency and accuracy in content publishing and campaign management.
Enterprise-level features like rollback and scheduling, which reduced risk and increased confidence in publishing.
Lessons Learned
This project showcased the strength of collaboration: BDO brought design and front-end expertise, while Albright Labs delivered a backend system that elevated October CMS into an enterprise-ready solution.
The scale of the system, combined with the custom API approach, highlights Albright Labs’ ability to deliver complex, large-scale projects that balance technical prowess with user-friendly workflows.
