The arithmetic
What a rented storefront actually costs.
The monthly plan is the smallest number on a hosted platform's bill. The two that matter are the percentage taken from every order, and the stack of app subscriptions that quietly accumulates once you need search, or bundles, or subscriptions, or a field the theme did not anticipate.
A transaction fee is the one that compounds. It scales with your success, it never stops, and it buys you nothing you did not already have on the day you launched.
Where the maths turns over
Past roughly $250,000 a year in sales, a typical hosted stack costs more than $595/month once its transaction fees and apps are counted. Above that line, owning your store is simply cheaper.
Below it, this is not the cheapest way to sell online and we will say so. What you are buying at that size is control and permanence, and whether that is worth it is a fair question to ask us directly.
No transaction fee
We take nothing per order. Your payment processor charges what it charges, and that is the end of the list.
No app tax
Search, reviews, bundles, custom fields. On a rented platform these are monthly subscriptions. Here they are build decisions.
No theme ceiling
Customisation is bounded by what you need, not by what a theme system permits. This is the wall most stores hit in year two.
